Good days and Bouncy castles 21 June, 2008

I had such a good day today. Well, I overdid it this week so was really tired this morning (I blame the aforementioned bouncy castles) so had to have a sleep to get rid of a yucky headache. I was feeling a bit down about having missed an afternoon tea with a good friend, and I decided to just call and see if i could go over late. It was so much fun and I had such a good catch up with Kylie! Then I got home and the boys were very cuddly, and then I came on here and found Michelle and Nushi on Facebook! So a perfect day of catching up with some of my bestest friends.
Friday the boys went to their first non-family member birthday party. I was so excited that I couldn’t sleep the night before.
It was at lollipops and I… I mean WE had so much fun. Though the kids kept wanting to get off the bouncy castle, and I didn’t want to look like a crazy lady bouncing on it by myself. So we reached a compromise – “Let’s go on the spinning, makes me wante to be sick teacups one more time, then you can come on the bouncy castle with me!”
Three hours later the three of us left a little tired but very happy. Looking forward to my… I mine our next bouncy castle experience

So since my heart has improved I thought it best to mention to the GP the symptoms I’m still getting, as perhaps they weren’t related to the heart condition. The more I thought about it the more I realised I have been generally unwell for a number of years now, probably predating the heart condition.
So I took myself down to the Doctors yesterday and after reviewing bloodtests as far back as 1998,my lovely doctor apologised and told me this should have been looked into a long time ago. Not her fault, as I was under a different doctor at the time. The thought is that I have some kind of autoimmune disorder so am being referred to a rhuematologist. So I will have that appointment very early August. Sometimes this seems never ending, but I realise it’s just all pieces of the puzzle and eventually I will have the whole picture with which to work with and take care of myself the best I can.
In Happier news!! Benji’s toilet training is going so well! So today he got a little present, Thomas underwear and a lightning Mcqueen car. James is really not ready, so for now we are concentrating on Ben, which is really nice as it’s the first one-on-one developmental thing we’ve done with them. I didn’t want James to feel left out though, so he got a Harold helicopter for being a good boy with the kitten. They are best friends now, and she even sleeps on his bed!
Elmo, Elmo, Giraffe and… Puppy 10 June, 2008

So Benji originally had just the one comfort item which he has to take to bed and out everywhere with us. This was old Elmo. Old Elmo went missing, so we bought new Elmo. Old Elmo was subsequently rescued from the wheelibin after James admitted to throwing him in the rubbish – thus Benji then carried around Elmo and Elmo.
One rainy day we drove into town to take the boys to the zoo. Realising it was actually freezing we went to the toy shop instead, and I tried to convince the boys that when I told them they’d see animals I meant toy animals. Thus the addition of giraffe to our clan. Then while Craig was home last week Ben discovered Puppy at the bottom of the toy chest. So now we can’t go anywhere until all four are found. Fun. Trying to makes things easier for him, I suggested that Elmo, Elmo, Puppy and Giraffe went in the trolley and could be pushed around. This worked for five minutes.
Although this all did lead to a lovely story I got told on Monday when picking the boys up from creche. It seems at mat time James took a pillow outside with him which was taken by a littls girl. James then interrupted mat time to declare the pillow was indeed his and didn’t calm down until the teacher asked the little girl to give the pillow back, which she did. Benji then turns to the little girl and says “You can hold Elmo” and gave her new elmo! The little girl thanked him, and Benny said “You’re Welcome.” Awww, hows that for conflict resolution?
In other news, I hate saying this but I’m not feeling great. Tired, well exhausted seems more appropriate. Achy and just generally having a sick week. It seems to be a pattern now – month of feeling great, couple of weeks to remind me I’m not quite as healthy and well as I like to imagine. Ahh well, never mind. Though it did cause the boys to ask repeatedly for Craig today as Mummy just lay around on the couch being lazy.
So no more nappies… 7 June, 2008

Ok so we’re officially going to do it – we’re going cold turkey on nappies. Both Benji and James are officially toilet training. What fun.
Since they most likely will be starting kindy just after their birthday in September, I decided we’d give toilet training a go. Since both boys seem interested, and it’s fun to wear ‘big boy’ pants, it seems a good time to start.
My intention was to train Ben first as he seems more ready, and then concentrate on James. But as is the way with twins, they both want to do everything at the same time. I fear I will have lost my mind by the time they are both fully trained
Stay tuned…

I actually went into the garden this morning. In the rain, with all the bugs and raked up the leaves
You know what? It wasn’t too bad! In fact it was kinda nice, though Craig made me come in when the drizzle changed to full on buckets of water. But the garden is starting to look nice. I even went a little way down the bank at the back of our house to see what was down there (nothing) and the boys had quite a bit of fun piling all the leaves up.
So I may need to change my mind on the great outdoors…
